Chip and Joanna Gaines Just Announced They're Opening a Boutique Hotel in Waco, Texas

It's been more than a year since the hit HGTV show Fixer Upper ended, but Chip and Joanna Gaines have certainly kept busy. While everybody's favorite home renovation couple is still in the midst of launching their own television network and designing home goods for Target, they've just announced another huge project-a boutique hotel in downtown Waco, Texas.

True to their Fixer Upper roots, the duo will be renovating a century-old, 53,000-square-foot office building that's in dire need of some TLC to create their dream hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2021. It'll be located just a few blocks from their other major Waco property, Magnolia Market at the Silos, a shopping and dining hub for all things Chip and Jo, home to everything from a garden shop to a bakery to a food-truck lot where local vendors provide refreshments to visitors from around the world.

“Home is a feeling, created by and for the people you love and share your life with; it's a state of being known and loved just as you are,” Joanna wrote in a blog post about the project. “That is our dream for this hotel-that it would serve as an extension of the way we feel about our own home and all it represents to us, and that every guest who comes to stay would experience that same sense of belonging and community.”

For the project, the Chip and Jo are working with AJ Capital Partners, a firm responsible for such hotels as the Chicago Athletic Association and the Pontchartrain in New Orleans. “Reviving timeless, historical buildings is at the core of what we do,” Ben Weprin, the company's CEO, said in a statement. “We are excited to partner with Chip, Joanna, and the Magnolia team to bring an authentic hotel experience to the growing and lively community of Waco.”

While the hotel is far from ready for guests-take a peek inside the pre-renovation space in this video clip shared by Chip and Jo on TODAY this morning-you can be sure we'll be keeping a close eye on the Magnolia website to book a stay as soon as we possibly can. Here's to hoping there will be plenty of shiplap inside.
